Our
work for the Calhoun School began in 1983 with Science laboratory
renovations, new site/relocation options study and miscellaneous
consultation on their facilities, and extended through the 1989
renovation for the Robert L. Beir Early Childhood Center. This
included the conversion of an existing high school facility
into a Lower School building to house 180 students. Facilities
included a Gymnasium, Shop, Cafeteria, Auditorium, Offices,
Classrooms, Art room and Library. Renovations were extensive,
including new mechanical and electrical infrastructure. A new
rooftop play yard was created. The major architectural features
of the 1920 building structure were retained; wood floors, 12'
high vaulted ceilings, large windows. A major fireplace on the
5th Floor is the focus of the Early Childhood Library.
