The Hyperbaric Center at Cabrini Medical Center (CMC) is the
only such installation in Manhattan. The two monoplace chambers
provide full body Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) as a special
patient treatment modality.
HBO
Therapy is used in the treatment of carbon monoxide poisoning,
decompression sickness and for healing certain problem wounds.
The HBO therapy for wound treatment is coordinated with CMC's
community based outpatient Wound Care Center conveniently
located in relation to the main hospital campus.
The
Hyperbaric Center was constructed as an integral but discrete
component of the renovation program for the hospitals Emergency
Department.
