To accommodate their expanding surgical demand, Staten Island
University Hospital in Staten Island, NY has opened a new
Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in a new building on the campus
of the main Hospital. The ASC is strategically located on
second floor of a new infill building, joining two existing
Medical Office Buildings. A new 180-foot bridge connects the
ASC to the Main Hospital.
The
ASC contains six full size operating rooms, each over 460-s.f.
The OR's are equipped with state-of-the art technology providing
the capabilities to support all minor surgical procedures,
most major procedures and to receive overflow cases from the
main Hospital. Patient Prep, Holding & Recovery areas and
support functions, including gross cleaning and equipment
storage, supplement the surgical suite. A separate entrance
is provided for surgeons from the public area into lockers/showers
