Maimonides Medical Center Emergency Department remained fully operational during the phased construction. The reconfigured and expanded Emergency Department encompasses 23,500 s.f. of new and renovated space serving over 70,000 annual visits.

Dedicated treatment areas provide for acute, trauma, cardiac, pediatric, orthopedic, and psychiatric patients. A separate “fast-track” treatment area, a concept pioneered by NR/A in the early 1980’s, allows for rapid treatment of less acute patients in a less frenetic environment, separate from the acute care area in a fraction of the space needed for more acute care.
