The Roosevelt Hospital's new Emergency Department is a major element of the St. Lukes/ Roosevelt Hospital Center Major Modernization/ New Building Program. The E/D, designed in association with SOM, is comprised of both new and renovated space, and serves an estimated 65,000 annual visits.

The design of this Emergency Department contains innovative planning concepts NR/A has developed with Dr. Stephan Lynn, Director of Emergency Services for St. Lukes/ Roosevelt's campuses. It features walk-in access for pediatric, psychiatric, and fast-track treatment, which is separate from the hectic trauma treatment areas. Acute tuberculosis, respiratory, trauma, and cardiac patients are under the direct supervision of an expansive central nurses' station.
