In response to increasing patient volume, a growing staff and recent technological developments in the field, the Infirmary's Otorhinolaryngology Department has tripled its space requirements to 10,000 s.f. To house the department's expanding needs while phasing out underutilized inpatient space, NR/A converted a 10,500 s.f., 32-bed patient care unit into an Otorhinolaryngology Faculty Practice Suite with sophisticated special procedure rooms to supplement general examination areas.

The scope of the project included two dental operatories, an oral surgery suite, gastrointestinal treatment rooms, an audio testing booth, 10 examination rooms, academic office for 12 physicians, a library/teaching/conference room and support functions. The new facility will allow the department to expand its research and clinical practice as needed.
