The existing 25-year-old, 467-bed campus was experiencing
a severe shortage of space to accommodate new program needs,
new technology and an expanding patient population. These
factors, combined with the need to renew the aging areas of
the campus, provided the impetus for senior management to
explore expansion options and opportunities for growth and
renewal.
NR/A
provided technical support including demographics, space planning
and cost analyses to assist senior management in support of
locating a Heart Institute program on the Staten Island University
Hospital campus. These analyses were reviewed by State approval
agencies against a competing hospital's proposal and a CON
was granted to SIUH.
The
Site/Facility planning process included review of all services,
space shortfalls and preparation of functional and space programs.
